This Easter season, I want to try to focus more on the resurrection and what it means. We had communion Sunday night and it really got me to thinking about Easter and what Jesus did for us. Mark 15:34 says "And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Some people think that God turned his back on Jesus. But, in reality, God and sin cannot co-exist. So, while Jesus was bearing the sins of all mankind - past, present and future - God had to seperate himself from Jesus. I never looked at it like that, but it was very interesting. So, while Jesus was on that cross, he was beaten and mocked and on top of that he bore our sins and the sins of all mankind. How can anyone turn their back on someone who loves you so much?
