Thanksgiving and Tonsils!

Well, I hope y'all had a good Thanksgiving. We did, we ate too much! Bryan did his traditional fried turkey, and it was sooo good! I made pumpkin pies out of real pumpkin, they turned out real good too!

We took Lily to the doctor yesterday, she has been getting tonsilitis and strep throat so often here lately that they referred her to an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) doctor. They have decided that she should have her tonsils removed. So, we have scheduled that for next week (Tuesday). Y'all keep her in your prayers (and me!). I know it will be better for her in the longrun. I'll just be glad when it's all over!

One Year

One year ago today, I became a Pastor's wife. (It was on a Sunday last year!) So much has happened this past year, and the year has gone by so fast! We had our Harvest Supper at church last night and DH mentioned that he started a year ago and everyone clapped. It was so nice. I feel that the applause was not for DH, but for God. For His glory and honor that he has brought us all together and the church is growing and unifying. It is wonderful to see God moving in the church and we have been blessed to get to know all of these people who have become our family. Praise the Lord!

In the past year:
DH was ordained
My son got saved
DH has baptized 6 people (and has one more to baptize in December)
I went on my first Ladies Retreat!
My neice got saved
We've had several people join the church
We've had several rededications
DH has preached 9 funerals (only 2 from within our church family)
Regular church attendance has more than doubled

These are just a few things that have happened in our first year of ministry. Some happy and some sad, all of them a learning experience! None of it because of Bryan (or his family), but all because God has chosen to use us as his tool for the ministry.

Toy Recalls

Aqua Dots, Toy Cars, Barbie Dolls, Polly Pockets ....... Does anyone else think that we need to start buying American stuff and boycott these dangerous chinese toys? I for one will try my best to buy American made toys from now on. If the Chinese want to place our children in danger, they won't be getting my money.

Revival, Homecoming and Pumpkin Patch

Wow, I have alot to talk about since I haven't blogged in a few days. Mainly because I've been so busy! We had revival last week at our church and it was awesome. I can see the Lord working in our church, I can see the Lord dealing with people's hearts and I can feel the Lord dealing with my heart on some things. It is awesome to feel the spirit moving during the services. We ended revival with Homecoming on Sunday and that turned out really nice. We had a bulletin board fixed with a bunch of old pictures from the church and a slide show was presented during the service. It was very good, we had dinner afterwards (you know Baptists, we have to eat!) We had so much food and it was all so good!

Yesterday, I went with Lily's class on a field trip to the pumpkin patch! That was fun, the kids really seemed to have a good time! I know I did! I'll post a picture later!

Another good thing, we attended Camp Meeting at Calvary last night (the church where we served as Youth Pastor before Bryan was called as full time Pastor). It was really good, 2 messages from 2 different preachers and some awesome singing! After the service one of the boys from the youth group told Bryan that he had accepted the call to preach. I was so proud of him. This is a boy that I've known since he was a baby and he has grown up to this mature young man ready to serve the Lord! Praise God! I love to see the Lord working in people's lives, especially young people!

Yesterday was the anniversary of my Dad's death. It has been 2 years. In some ways it is hard to imagine that it has been that long, but in some ways it seems like it has been longer. He was so special and I really miss him.

New Day, New School

Today was the kids' first day at their new school. Matthew woke up excited and ready to go! He talked 90 to nothing all morning. Lily doesn't quite understand I think, it doesn't seem like it is phasing her at all. In a week or so she'll probably be asking me about her old school and teacher. Their teachers at their old school were sad to see them leave and I was sad also.

Today went well. Matthew made several new friends and found some old buddies that he remembered from tball and pre-k. Lily did very well, she always does well with making friends. I think this is going to be a really good change for them and I am so happy that they had a good day today. I know that it is because y'all were praying for us! Thank you!
